Dealer Details: Motorcar Gallery

Presented by Motorcar Gallery– South Florida has a pace of life all its own. In a world of luxury real estate, mega yachts, and supercars many small car dealers have not been able to survive the fast lifestyle that exists. However, there is one respite amid the hustle & bustle of Fort Lauderdale. It is there you will find a family business that emphasizes customer service above all else. Motorcar Gallery has been in the classic car business since 1984. Their iconic location on U.S.1 is blocks from Las Olas, and it has become a Mecca for those of us who share a love for classics.

A growing backlash among our fans is directed at the mega-dealers. The massive conglomerates have forced many small stores like this out of business while transforming customers into statistics. The employees at Motorcar Gallery have over 200 years in sales and service of the world’s most coveted cars. Not only can they help you make an informed purchase, but their staff is also available around the clock to offer service, storage, and delivery of your classic.

You are not a number, and your repeat business is why Motorcar Gallery is able to shine brighter than any corporate behemoth. This is easily seen as you drive past the showroom. Instead of packing the floor with the latest arrivals, Motorcar Gallery knows each car has a story to tell. In fact, knowing how each car made it here is worth your time. The love of cars is what motivates this team to go above and beyond what you have experienced before, so click here for an experience you won’t regret.

P.S. Here is a taste of what you will see in the showroom:

RM Sotheby’s Arizona 2021: 2019 Koenigsegg Regera

Presented by RM Sotheby’s

KOENIGSEGG VS. THE WORLD

The idea of building one’s own supercar to compete with the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren would generally be considered ludicrous, what with the monumental strides these companies have made in automotive technology and performance over the past decades. How could one man’s vision compete with such established sporting pedigree and record-setting engineering?

From time to time, however, someone does indeed attempt such a feat and, on even rarer occasions, succeeds brilliantly. Such is the case with the Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg. Christian von Koenigsegg created his supercar company in 1994; his aspiration was to build nothing short of the greatest supercar in history. Over the next three years, with help from a small but highly skilled group, a prototype was constructed using a radical carbon fiber tub and a litany of automotive engineering firsts. This car, named the Koenigsegg CC (Competition Coupé), was first publicly displayed at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997, and the reaction from public and press alike was overwhelming. Confident his cars would find buyers, Christian left Cannes with nothing other than production on his mind.

Over the course of the past 26 years, the Koenigsegg name has become nigh synonymous with absolute mechanical absurdity. Hollow carbon fiber wheels capable of speeds over 280 mph? Koenigsegg. 3-D printed turbochargers? Koenigsegg. A single-state torque converter able to handle over 1,400 lb ft of torque? Koenigsegg. What about a hybrid-drive motor pushing over 1500 horsepower? Koenigsegg has figured that out as well.

From speed records to innovative patents, each subsequent Koenigsegg product has triggered worldwide astonishment; this 2019 Koenigsegg Regera is quite possibly the most outrageous exhibition of automotive technology ever offered for sale to the public.

2019 Koenigsegg Regera 8

THE REGERA

The Regera’s concept form was first unveiled to the world at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. One year later, the heavily tweaked production version made its debut at the same venue. The Regera retains Koenigsegg’s most distinctive design feature, a pair of Dihedral Synchro-helix doors, which open both outwards and upwards in a unique fashion to improve egress and ingress in close quarters. Another unique build characteristic is the car’s convertible top. Thanks to the inherent structural rigidity of the car’s carbon fiber monocoque, the roof can be removed, turning the car into one of the fastest convertibles ever produced. Even more incredible is that the top can be securely stowed away in one piece in the car’s nose, allowing for the roof to be kept with the car at all times. Though it clearly utilizes an evolution of Koenigsegg’s distinctive aesthetics, materials, and construction, the Regera is, in truth, quite a step forward.

The Regera’s most revolutionary innovations lie within its hybrid-drive powertrain. Aptly named the “Koenigsegg Direct Drive” system, the Regera’s 5.0-liter V-8 engine produces over 1,000 horsepower thanks to a pair of 3-D printed variable turbochargers and patented exhaust system which altogether removes turbo lag. An 800-volt battery system utilizing F1-derived technology is mounted aft of the engine and mated to Koenigsegg’s “Hydro-coup” torque converter—a remarkable and unique single-state drive mechanism which replaces the need for a gearbox. Finally, a supplemental trio of electric motors mounted on each drive shaft (one main, one on each rear half-axle shaft) are programmed to smooth out power delivery at low engine speeds, providing an additional 700 horsepower for use across the Regera’s already-staggering power band. At the time of cataloging, the Regera holds the world record for 0-250 mph-0, executed in an alarmingly agile 31.49 seconds.

CHASSIS NUMBER 175

This Regera offered here is the 175th Koenigsegg chassis produced, and one of just 80 Regeras built between 2016 and 2020. Like all Koenigsegg chassis, it is a unique, alluring, and absolutely extreme creation. Chassis 175 is the first Regera offered to the public via auction; there is no other chassis exactly like it, and as such, it is unlikely to be mirrored in the public marketplace anytime soon.

Delivered new to Lake Forest Sports Cars of Chicago, Illinois, it is clad in Crystal White over a bespoke interior; both exterior and interior are enriched by a magnificent bevy of optional “clear” carbon fiber finishes. Furthermore, the exterior “Speedster” graphics package is specifically finished with a healthy volume of 24 karat gold leaf detail, slung with dramatic effect across the front splitter. Chassis 175 sits upon a staggered set of Tresex pattern “Aircore” wheels which utilize Koenigsegg’s innovative hand-laid, multi-lam, pre-impregnated carbon fiber construction to provide ultimate grip and unrivaled weight savings. The Tresex pattern is a more recent structural improvement upon earlier multi-spoke Aircore wheels provided to Koenigsegg models. Overall, the accompanying scan of Chassis 175’s original window sticker illustrates over $217,000 USD of optional and bespoke equipment.

In July of 2020, the consignor treated Chassis 175 to a full exterior protective regimen executed by noted specialists at Protective Film Solutions in Santa Ana, California; an XPEL Ultimate Clear Bra was applied to the entire exterior, with additional protection provided to the rear diffuser and front windshield. Chassis 175 is presently offered for sale with all its original accoutrements, as well as service records and original window sticker.

This vehicle will be offered at RM Sotheby’s 22nd annual Arizona sale, kicking off its 2021 auction calendar at the OTTO Car Club on Friday, 22 January. It will join approximately 80 blue-chip motor cars, and the sale will be a live event with limited attendance; online and phone bidding options are available by contacting RM Sotheby’s.

The Eleventh Annual SuperCar Week, Jan 2-10, 2021 – Palm Beach, Florida

Presented by SuperCar Week – Palm Beach is celebrating the 11th Annual SuperCar Week, January 2-10, 2021 and each year, both Palm Beach County and the City of West Palm Beach proclaim the second week of January as SuperCar Week.

Determined to make Palm Beach County the premier travel destination for auto enthusiasts around the world each January, Supercar Week is South Florida’s largest and most significant exotic, luxury and collector car showcase. The Supercar Week Sunday Grand Finale on the West Palm Beach Waterfront is a free public event that celebrates the 9 days of Supercar Week’s public and private VIP auto enthusiast events. All events are planned as media events and multiple production crews shoot each event with professional photography and video to broadcast television network specifications.

SuperCar Week is a nine day series of auto related events held throughout Palm Beach County each January, that all lead up to the Grand Finale on the West Palm Beach Waterfront, the second Sunday of January, from 10:00 a to 5:00 p. Last year over 100,000 general public and 1000 VIPs attended SuperCar Week. “This year, even with the Supercar Week COVID ACTION PLAN in place, we are expecting approximately the same attendance. Especially, since everyone seems to want to come out of their homes these days to the beautiful outdoor West Palm Beach Waterfront and take a stroll with their family and enjoy our locally produced community event.” Said Neil London, Supercar Week President and Executive Producer. “Supercar Week is more of a grass roots community economic impact initiative, than it is an entrepreneural car show production. It involves the entire South Florida car community and is probably the only car show that invites other car shows into it for them to promote their shows throughout the year. And there are some great ones” London added.

LAMBOBLUE ORANGESTRIPE

SuperCar Week includes: A spectacular VIP Sponsor’s Kick Off Event, this year held at Presenting Sponsor’s EAU Palm Beach Resort and Spa Palm Beach, the SuperCar HorsePower exhibition, opening day of the International Polo Club Palm Beach season in Wellington, Florida, the Supercar Week Race Experience at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, this year with road course sessions with HOD Hooked on Driving, dragstrip action with Clean Culture, car show, music and entertainment and other events held throughout Palm Beach County in Palm Beach Gardens, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Palm Beach Island and West Palm Beach. Supercar Week Vice President Gina Palmer says “My favorite is always the track event at Palm Beach International Raceway. Introducing new people to motorsports is so rewarding. Seeing the smiling faces of our friends, associates and sponsors, after having had some time on the track with either their vehicle or one of ours, with professional drivers giving them thrill-rides, never ceases to amaze me. I like seeing that women have been taking more time on the track than ever before and celebrity women race car drivers like Jet Dragster Elaine Larsen and Larsen Motorsports LMSJets.com comes out to inspire women to the excitement of motorsports. Neil also curates a special art exhibition paying tribute to the top women in racing called Women in Wheels / Women in Motorsports, sort of our own Women’s Hall of Fame. Elaine Larsen is one of the most recent inductees it pays tribute to. Lyn St James, Milka Duno, Kim Morrell, Lisa Matthews, were among the first ten in 2012.”

“This year, is our 11th Anniversary.” said Tim Byrd, co-founder and Vice President of Supercar Week. “It’s been extremely gratifying and rewarding to see that Florida’s entire state of car culture has recognized Supercar Week as a world class and significant car show, on a landscape of so many other great car shows in the United States. Cars and people come in from all over the country.” Palm Beach is no stranger to great car shows either. The Boca Concours d’Elegance, Cavallino Classic, Barrett Jackson, The Palm Event and the largest monthly Cars and Coffee event in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records, all reside here.

But it’s the people and relationships that have built a solid foundation around Supercar Week that has enabled it to not just last, but to grow each year. “Our first year in 2011, we only had 150 cars and 15,000 people showed up. It was amazing, since there were only three weeks to produce the first waterfront event. This year we’ll have over 1500 vehicles and more than 50,000 people attending.” Said Thomas Clarke, Executive Vice President of Supercar Week. “A lot has to do with our group’s, passion, dedication to excellence and our internal marketing motor. Let’s just say, we’re a finely tuned machine.” Clarke said. London added: “This year’s newest features include the all new “Larry Goldman Marine Village,” a tribute to one of the world best and most beloved off-shore powerboat racers and builders, and the Concours Palm Beach display on the West Palm Beach Waterfront’s Great Lawn.

Powerful Drag Strip-Ready 1965 Buick Skylark Being Auctioned by GAA Classic Cars

While the Roadmaster, Invicta, and Electra were the top models, Buick decided to build something to fill the gap between their luxury models and the entry-level Special. What once was a trim level arrived as an all-new model in 64. Riding on the same chassis as the Chevelle, the Buick Skylark focused on comfort. Because the bodies were stronger and more insulated, the springs and shocks were more relaxed than the Chevelle or the Cutlass.

This car was built to show and to go. While it is as clean to eat off of, the underside of the floors and frame have been restored to factory condition. The Moser 9″ is a modern replacement for the weak 10-bolt. This was needed to handle the power from the big block 461 stroker. Built by Phillips & Wilkerson Racing Engines, the dyno sheet verifies 492 horsepower and 527 lb-ft of torque. It is backed by a Tremec T5 HD 5-speed and an SFI bellhousing.

While other brands sold cars on horsepower, every Buick in the 60’s was advertised on its torque. Carroll Shelby said it best “Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races!” Given the curb weight of 2,900 lbs, this car has a better power-to-weight ratio than an F-18 fighter. Aside from the headers, people will easily see the Stage 1 Air Cleaner and assume it is a base model Grand Sport. But once you are done at the car show, it will run single-digit times in the quarter-mile. It may look like your grandma’s car but it also will run down anyone with ease.

This lot is one of the vehicles offered at GAA Classic Cars’ upcoming auction in Greensboro NC November 5-7, 2020.  Register to bid online or in-person today!

Fiat 1950’s Supercar, the Fiat 8V Coupe, At RM Sotheby’s Elkhart Collection Auction

FIAT OTTO VU

Of all the famed Italian automakers, Fiat is not normally recognized as producing lavish, coachbuilt grand touring cars. The Italian automaker’s first engines were four-cylinder units, often of enormous size. Fiat produced its first six-cylinder engine in 1907 and even a V-12 from 1921 to 1922. However, it was not until 1952 that Fiat would produce an eight-cylinder power plant.

The 8V, or Otto Vu in Italian, was built for two years only, with production of 114 examples, and remains one of the marque’s most legendary motor cars to this day. It was the star of the Geneva Salon in March 1952, and it goes without saying that this new Fiat got lots of attention from the motoring press. Road & Track called it “the biggest surprise of the year,” and The Motor remarked that “the last thing which had been expected from Italy’s largest car factory was a truly streamlined 2-seater saloon.” With its potent new power plant, which was clothed by bodies designed by the world’s finest coachbuilders, everyone knew that this was truly a special automobile in every sense of the word.

CHASSIS NUMBER 000047

The distinctively handsome Vignale-bodied coupe shown here, chassis number 000047, was originally exported to Turin on 11 June 1953 finished in verde. The design is distinguished by its flared rear fenders, forming finned flying buttresses on either side of the decklid and inset rear window; a distinctive oval radiator opening flanked by chrome “bumperettes” (echoed in the rear) and carrying a simple egg-crate insert; and delicate chrome trim around the doorsills and windows. Features of the car, including the round headlights and the design of the front fenders, are echoed in other Vignale designs of the period, including OSCAs and Ferrari 375 Americas. Low windows and a high beltline exaggerate the power and personality of the lines. The interior is understated, yet elegant, with pleated leather bucket seats facing a dashboard with a full complement of simple round Veglia gauges.

As noted in Tony Adriaensens’s Otto Vu, the car is believed to have first been displayed at the VII Concorso d’Eleganza di Roma on 12–13 June 1954, though slight trim differences later noted put this up for debate. The car was then delivered to its original owner, Alberto Carpanelli, of Alessandria. It was first registered as AL 40085 on 9 July 1954 and was later re-registered in Perugia as PG 30151. Further records indicate that the car was exported to the United States from Genoa sometime around 1957, at which point it had been refinished in a darker green than the original hue. In 1960, the 8V was registered in California by Phil Hildreth, who subsequently sold the car, along with another Fiat, to Al Johnston.

By 1971 the car was registered to Gerald Hoskins of Los Angeles and then to another local man by the name of Dan Smith. Smith in turn sold the car to John O’Donnell of New Jersey, from whom it was then acquired by Jarl de Boer in April 1982. At this time the car was added to the “Registry of Italian Oddities” by his son and noted historian of such Italian cars, John de Boer. Several years later the car was reunited with its original engine, which had been replaced around 1964 during Al Johnston’s ownership. The de Boers retained the 8V until 1988 when it was sold to Tom Hart of Reno, Nevada and subsequently purchased by the Blackhawk Collection in Southern California.

The 8V was refinished in red over a tan leather interior as part of the restoration, which was completed in 1990. Two years later, it was bought by Erich Traber, in whose Swiss collection it remained for 25 years before the current owner acquired it. Well preserved, the car is noteworthy for retaining its matching-numbers engine, as is documented in historian Tony Adriaensens’s book, Otto Vu. Many 8Vs were driven rather hard by their original owners, commonly resulting in the loss of its original power plant, but this example’s early historical documentation meant that its original engine was preserved and ultimately reunited with the car.

As one of very few 8Vs still with their original engine, and with its striking and attractive Vignale design, this is among the most exciting surviving examples of the world-famous Otto Vu, an Italian “supercar” of the Jet Age.

This vehicle will be offered without reserve in RM Sotheby’s Elkhart Collection, taking place 23-24 October as a live and online sale. View additional lots and register to bid online at RMSothebys.com.

Lexus LC 500 Convertible: The Height of Exhilaration

How to sell my luxury car is often difficult, a convertible undoubtedly invokes a rush of exhilaration. But it’s also an unconventional decision for a driver to select or for an automaker to produce. So when Lexus decided to return to the convertible game, they didn’t just open the roof—they crafted the LC 500 Convertible to be the height of everything.

Under the hood is the peak of Lexus performance, a 471-horsepower,* naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The convertible echoes the LC coupe’s handling dynamics, with a low center of gravity, thanks to the structural braces. Added to the front, middle and rear, they prime the LC Convertible for breathtaking performance on the open road.

The four-layer soft-top mimics the sleek lines of the LC coupe and disappears in a mere 15 seconds, opening the driver up to an entirely new sensory experience. At the touch of a button, you’re fully immersed in the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze.

And when the top is down, the cabin is a sanctuary for those in search of exhilaration. Marked with the thoughtful design you’d expect from a Lexus, every aspect is crafted with the driver in mind.

The LC Convertible goes to great lengths to let occupants enjoy the weather, even when conditions aren’t ideal. Lexus Climate Concierge automatically adjusts the heating and air conditioning, taking into account the roof’s position and vehicle speed, to ensure a comfortable cabin temperature. To take it a step further, vents behind the steering wheel directed at the hands and available upper-body vents in the front seats provide additional warmth in cooler weather, combining to craft a level of driving comfort that can’t be topped.

While the wind is in your hair, Enhanced Active Noise Control keeps unwanted noise out, freeing passengers’ ears to savor the roar of the engine note—tuned precisely for exhilaration.

Lexus engineers understood that potential existed above the roof of the car. To fully open up that experience the LC Convertible was crafted, so that exhilaration was no longer confined to the road below. It’s that kind of thinking that makes this convertible more than just a beautiful machine. It’s a chance to experience amazing at its most amazing.
